Predictability Charts are a fun way to start off reading. This week we have been working on a predictability chart about foods we like to eat. Each student tells me something he or she likes to eat. Then I write the sentence on chart paper. Each sentence starts out the same way "I like...".
Here are some pictures of the students using the pointer to read his or her sentence to the class.
Our next step will be to use the sentences to create a class book. The boys and girls were very proud of themselves! Great reading!

First Day!!!
We had a great first day of school! We read the story Pete the Cat Rocking in My School Shoes. We explored the school by going on a search for Pete the Cat. We each worked on a page for our name book. We completed a graph describing how we got the school (car/bus/walk) on the Activboard. We will use the interactive white board A LOT during the day. Today I modeled how to use it and let the children try it out. At the end of the morning they were able to explore the room.
